Dr. Alex Samoylov

Senior Research Scientist
Georgia Tech Autonomous Vehicle Living Labs

Dr. Samoylov is a Senior Research Scientist in the Aerospace, Transportation, and Advanced System Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, he also holds a joint appointment in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Samoylov has more than 20 years of experience in transportation research and transportation planning projects including autonomous vehicle integration, modeling and simulation of connected vehicles, vehicle emission research by optical remote sensing, identification of  abnormal behavior of vehicle emission testing stations, creating a novel approach and methodology for emission station evaluations; evaluation of current practices for roundabout illumination and modeling and design of roundabout illumination based on sustainable engineering concepts, identification of demand for High Occupancy Lanes, and modeling of complex systems.

For his research contributions, Dr. Samoylov was awarded the 2006, 2014, 2016, 2017 ATAS research award for technical achievement, significant technical accomplishments, and leadership. 

Dr. Samoylov received the Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and MS and BBA in Information Systems and Computer Information Systems respectively from Georgia State University. 


Jeff Peterson
Director of Business Development- Autonomous Technology

Mr. Jeff Peterson has more than 20 years of sales experience, including nearly a decade of experience in technology-focused roles.  He joined First Transit in 2016 and leads the company’s pursuit and development of shared autonomous vehicle opportunities.  Throughout his career, Jeff has fostered relationships with potential clients to fully understand their needs and develop strategies to achieve their goals.  To this end, he works with operations teams and senior leadership to identify the best solutions for its clients’ mobility needs.  Jeff has been instrumental in First Transit’s growth and leadership in the automated vehicle space, and plays a vital role in the company’s strategic direction in this emerging market.


Todd Jones
GA State Senator

Representative Todd Jones represents the citizens of House District 25 which encompasses South Forsyth and North Fulton Counties.  Representative Jones serves as Vice-Chairman on the Governmental Affairs, Judiciary and Science & Technology Committees.  Further, Todd serves as a member of the Appropriations, Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision, Economic Development & Tourism, Education and Industry & Labor committees.

Todd’s business experience has focused on triple-bottom line companies that focus on social, environmental and financial impacts.  From changing K-12 education worldwide to launching energy projects in the developing world to deploying EHS software, each company created accretive, positive return on investment.  During his time as a business executive he has worked with companies like Johnson Controls, Goldman Sachs, Goodyear, Cardinal Health, John Deere, Walgreens, Morgan Stanley and Cargill.

Todd holds a Juris Doctor (1994) and BA in Finance (1989) from the University of Florida.
