Healthcare Hackathon

Develop innovative healthcare solutions leveraging the world’s best location intelligence!

OVERVIEW

On May 18, 2018, Pitney Bowes, RCG Global Services and TAG will hold a fast-paced, 24-hour competition to develop creative and innovative solutions to a set of health plan business problems leveraging Pitney Bowes market leading data sets. The event will rev up a week prior to the hackathon to provide information on the Pitney Bowes data sets and tools, a briefing on the business problems with past and present attempts to solve them, and a Q&A session. The teams will present their solutions during the last 2 hours of the 24-hour hackathon. The finalists will be selected to present their solutions the following Monday at a 4-course dinner and wine pairing in Midtown to a panel of healthcare executives. Winners will be awarded with cash prizes and industry media coverage.

Teams will be provided access to Pitney Bowes data sets including  a comprehensive portfolio of business, geographic, and industry-specific data.  In fact, you are welcome to test drive right now at the Pitney Bowes Software & Data Marketplace. Teams are also encouraged to use the data visualizations tools of their choice. This competition is all about creativity and innovation!


HEALTH PLAN BUSINESS PROBLEMS


Location intelligence and the use of spatial data sets and reference files, provides a new and exciting area for improved analytics and new ways to manage the delivery of care.  This hackathon is seeking new and inventive ways to leverage location intelligence to solve for health plan problems in areas such as:


• Provider Directory Accuracy
• Network Adequacy
• Holistic Member View
• Emergency Room vs. Urgent Care Access and Location Predictors
• Member Retention
• Fraud, Waste and Abuse

• May 11th: Orientation: Pitney Bowes data sets, business problem briefing and Q&A session

• May 18th: 24-hour hackathon: Pitney Bowes and RCG Global Services executives on hand to answer healthcare and data questions

• May 19th: Teams will present their solutions (5:00-7:00pm) and finalists will be selected (7:00-7:30pm) in the final two hours

• May 21st:  Dinner in Midtown: Finalists will present their solutions the following Monday to a panel of industry executives

TEAM PRIZES

Winners will be featured in a press release following the dinner

• First place: $5,000
• Second place: $2,000 
• Third place: $1,000
